Punjab: RoundGlass Punjab Hockey Academy, part of RoundGlass Sports, came together with former and current Olympians to empower children to play hockey by distributing 580 kits under its #JeetegaPunjab campaign at 10 of its Development Centers across Punjab. The campaign, which ran from mid-August to October first week, is part of RoundGlass Sports’ initiative to nurture young talent in Punjab and give them the freedom to play a sport of their choice.

Several renowned hockey Olympians and other dignitaries attended the events at these Development Centers. The star-studded list included Tokyo 2020 Olympians Gurjit Kaur, Dilpreet Singh, and Hardik Singh; Olympic medallist, Varinder Singh; DSP (Punjab Police), ex-Olympian, and former international hockey player and Asian Games gold medallist, Dharamvir Singh; SP (Punjab Police) and former international hockey player, Jugraj Singh; and SP (Punjab Police) and former international hockey player Kanwalpreet Singh.

Sunny (Gurpreet) Singh, Founder, RoundGlass Sports, said about the successful completion of the #JeetegaPunjab campaign, “Sports participation is an important part of Wholistic Wellbeing — wellbeing across physical, emotional, social, financial, professional, community, and planetary dimensions — and all children deserve to play a sport of their choice. RoundGlass Sports is creating opportunities for children to fulfill their potential in football, hockey, and tennis. Punjab has always had a rich sporting heritage, especially in hockey. We want to continue this tradition by supporting them at an early stage and provide them an opportunity to further sharpen their natural technical abilities.”

RoundGlass Punjab Hockey Academy is supporting the dreams of 580 children across its 10 Development Centers — in Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Ropar, Tarn Taran, and Amritsar districts — by providing infrastructure and training under qualified coaches.

Congratulating the Academy on the success of the campaign, Olympian Gurjit Kaur said, “It is encouraging to see RoundGlass Sports go the extra mile to nurture sporting talent in Punjab. Having come up the hard way myself, I understand the struggles of children coming from humble backgrounds in pursuing sports. Initiatives such as these are much needed to give our children a happier and healthier life. I am grateful to have been trained under Coach Varinder Singh of the RoundGlass Punjab Hockey Academy.”

The distributed kits included training equipment such as a hockey-stick, stack-suit, shoes, stockings, shin-pads, polo T-shirt, water bottle, and mouth guard.
