Rajya Sabha was adjourned for the day today due to death of a sitting member Praveen Rashtrapal.

The upper house was paid tributes to him and was, thereafter, adjourned for the day.

Earlier, the Lok Sabha was adjourned sine die yesterday after a 13-day session.

Prior to closing of the session, the House concluded a three-day debate on prevailing drought and drinking water crisis in different parts of the country.

The session commenced on April 25 and held 13 sittings during which the House passed the Rail budget, General budget and adopted 10 Bills.Four new Bills were also introduced.

Besides the regular business, the House also passed Budget and Vote on Account for Uttarakhand this Monday.

The session commenced on 25th of April, and spread over 13 sittings and over 92 hours and 21 minutes of work.

In fact, the House sat late for 14 hours and 32 minutes to transact urgent Business.

This was the rare occasion in recent times when Loksabha was not adjourned, even for a single minute on account interruption during this session.
