  • SC postpones hearing for three weeks on Modi’s plea

    Published on January 11, 2011

The Supreme Court on Tuesday adjourned for three weeks its hearing on former IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi plea seeking reconstitution of BCCI Disciplinary Comm probing charges of financial irregularities in the conduct of the mega cricketing event.

Modi had in September last year filed a Special Leave Petition (SLP) before the apex court citing the “real danger of bias” in the proceedings being conducted by the three-member committee.

Senior Counsel Ram Jethmalani, appearing for Modi, brought on record the Bombay High Court’s interim order staying the hearing.

“Since the single bench of the Bombay High Court will hear Modi’s suit challenging the existence of the disciplinary committee on January 13, a bench of Justices J M Panchal and H L Gokhale in the Supreme Court adjourned the matter for three weeks,” Modi’s legal counsel Mehmood M Abdi said on Tuesday.
