Dashing opener, Virender Sehwag has been chosen to lead the India squad against the West Indies in the first 3 ODIs of the five match ODI series.

Seniors, MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar have been rested while Yuvraj Singh misses out due to an illness.

“Sachin Tendulkar has been rested. Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been rested for the series. Yuvraj Singh was not considered for selection, as he has informed that he is not fully fit,” BCCI secretary Sanjay Jagdale informed in a media release.

Young leg-spinner Rahul Sharma was included in the 15 man squad and he will partner R Ashwin in the spin department.

The selectors went in with the same squad that played routed England 5-0 in the ODIs with the only change being Sehwag in place of Dhoni.

The ODIs will be played at Cuttack, Vishakapatnam and Ahmedabad.
