The S&P 500 and the Dow closed with marginal gains with support of financial stocks. 

The US stocks traded in a narrow range ahead of minutes from the Federal Reserve’s last meeting that could offer clues on the central bank’s views on inflation and an economic recovery.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained but ended almost flat, the S&P 500 added 0.2 percent while the Nasdaq Composite index fell marginally by 0.1 percent.
