  • Bengaluru: Super Minute 2, the Kannada adaptation of Shine International’s game show Minute to Win It, concluded on Sunday with Team Lakshmi Baramma winning INR 14 Lakhs. The team, comprising of Shine Shetty, Kavitha, Neha, Jeevan and Vijay, decided to donate their winnings to help 10-year old, Amulya, who suffers from congenital hearing loss.

Amulya-with-Super-Minute-2-Amulya first appeared on an episode of Kid’s Special on Super Minute2 on March 2016, where channel Colors, the line producer, Pixel Pictures, and show host, Ganesh, discovered her condition. Though Amulya bowed out of the series early on, they decided to help raise funds for cochlear implant surgery for Amulya.

“When we thought of the ways we could raise money for Amulya, we realised we wanted to involve the participants of the show towards this cause. Super Minute has been one of the most watched shows on Kannada Television, and we wanted to use this platform to do something good. When we floated the idea a special series called Championship version involving celebrities and of donating the winnings towards Amulya’s surgery and other charitable causes they hold close, it was extremely well received by our participants,” Prashanti Malisetti, CEO, Pixel Pictures, said about the inspiration for the idea collectively backed by the channel Colors.

However, the winning team took their spirit of generosity further and donated their entire winnings of INR 14 Lakhs to the little girl.

“When people come on a show Super Minute, it is generally to have fun and maybe win some money. Shine, Kavitha, Neha, Jeevan and Vijay have shown us true human spirit today by donating their entire winning towards Amulya’s surgery,” Ganesh, show host, said on the occasion.

Amulya is expected to undergo surgery in July 2016.
