    Published on August 17, 2015

Tinytot photographers have arrived.  Armed with their parents Smartphones, half a dozen kids all below 7/8 years Ham-kisi-se-kam-nahistarted snapping the unexpected moments recently, which caught everybody’s attention.

Well over 500 parents and their younger siblings assembled for an Independence Day Celebrations of Rockwell International School at Madhapur. They were all watching their children perform cultural activities which was witnessed by Chief Guest Pragyan Ojha, Indian Cricketer.

Little time after the program began, half a dozen kids shutterbugs were found all over the ground clicking pictures of their performing brothers and sisters with their parents mobiles.

They were snapping like adults those unexpected and amazing moments. They had their photographic brains switched on all the time, looking for possibilities, swiftly moving place to place to capture snaps with good angles. And the ubiquity of these phone cameras, combined with their unobtrusiveness, have made them particularly effective at capturing candid moments in public spaces.

Phone camera is no doubt your best camera available to capture unexpected moments.  Taking advantage of this, young boys and girls all below 7 or 8 years or even less shot many photographs.  No doubt they looked to sharp shooters and captured many precious moments their loves ones.

In the past parents never used to allow kids of very young age to touch their costly cameras. Now things are changed. Every smart phone has a camera.  With phones freely available everywhere in the house, children start handling camera phones from a very tender age. They gain the camera confidence from very early age.

Many wondered what excited these five, six years old lauds to get involved into it?

Photography is a fun and good art form that gets kids excited. The ability to capture something of interest to them in a photograph, lights an artistic fire within them that will help keep them engaged and captivated by their surroundings commented Subash Boda, Chairman of the school.

I adore the pictures that my kids took of me. It proves that I am there with them, enjoying myself too, Subash added.

This is the positive side of the modern age gadgets and gizmos. Everybody talks bad about exposing kids to these electronic devices.  But photo cameras can creatively engage little ones said Jayaprakash Rao, Principle of Rockwell International School.

I know of an incident where a father gave his 5 years old crying daughter in our school to go and shoot pics with the mobile phone.  He did that to divert her mind. In few seconds, she stopped crying and got focused on clicking. That has successfully distracted her in a positive way. That small incident made me think what a creative way it was to change the focus of the little girl, he explained.

Indeed, home shooling makes it that much easier to incorporate photography into the daily routine. There’s so many ways to help children learn by using alternative methods; photography can really help learning come alive. Photography can just be one more tool in effective teaching and reaching our children. I am inspired by the possibilities  and the lessons photography teach, he said.

Allowing children to shoot with mobiles phones and giving few tips and guidelines in handling them, kids will not only handle it safely, they know the value of the phone but also helps to spark their own children’s creativity though photography, Jayaprakash Rao added

There are kids cameras available in the market place.

Photography is one of the few creative mediums, goes well with your little kids.  Encourage them to shoot pictures while on out and that not only keeps them busy and entertained no matter what kind of pics they take.  Who know what they end up shooting.  Parents can even challenge  to shoot particular type of photographs.  It will be definitely a fun activity.

Clicking snaps help kids to think creatively, which is always a good thing. Even school too can support these kinds of creative outlets. This can contribute a lot for creative enrichments of the little ones.

You can give them a theme to shoot such as particular shapes, colours, textures etc. Parents can encourage their child to shoot a series of pictures that tell a story. They can even be taught to zoom in and zoom out. They can put pictures shot by their little ones to some good cause.  The beauty of the digital age is that you don’t have to spend the money on every snapshot your child takes. If you can make photo album or scrapbook of little ones works, will give them something to be proud of.  You will be proud that you encouraged him to pursue that creative journey through playful childhood.

These are fun ways to honor the work of little photographers. The possibilities are endless. Photography could be a very good family fun activity. Don’t be afraid to experiment with your camera and let your kids do the same.  Take tons of photos and learn with your kids as you do.  Photography is good hobby. Kids too love it.

Capturing their world through photography is empowerment of children. Photographs taken by children can also be great writing prompts for journals. Who knows what is in store, the next big photography of the world could be your little ones.  Encourage kids take wonderful snaps.  These will be good memories they will cherish for lifetime.
