Unified Cup Football at Chicago

New Delhi: Special Olympics Bharat is all geared up for its third camp at Amity University, Noida . 5 partners and 6 athletes from the various states of India i.e Punjab, Goa, Maharastra , Delhi ,Kerala and Rajasthan are preparing

themselves to represent Special Olympics Bharat at the Unified Cup to be held at Chicago in July. There are 16 Males team and 8 Females teams participating in the event to be held from 17th to 22 July at Chicago . S.O.Bharat is in Pool “B”and will clash with Mexico, Korea and Egypt . This is the First ever Unified Cup being held to celebrate the 50 years of Special Olympics.

The training sessions are being held at Amity University Grounds from 6:00 a.m – 9:00 a.m and from 4.00p.m – 6:30p.m till the 30th May 2018. The Indian team under the leadership Mr. Victor Vaz who is also the National Sports Director of S.O.Bharat is strongly supported by the coaches of Delhi Dynamos and the well trained two energetic lady coaches of Special Olympics Bharat Ms. Samantha and Monali who apparently were trained by the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation . The S.O Bharat unified female Football team is supported exclusively by Herbalife Nutrition, the premier global nutrition company.

According to the National Sports Director Mr. Victor Vaz , he has full support of his mentor ,the CEO Air Marshal Denzil Keelor and Chairman Dr. Kartikay Saina to raise the standard of the team . He said that he had to scout for athletes who could play soccer and later trained them, today the standard has raised to 45 percent and with the other two camps and the follow up training in the respective states ,will bring the team to a high competitive level. The coaches are looking in every aspect of training including specialized training in Goalkeeping. He concludes by saying its not about victory but its how our special athletes play the game.
