Kolkata : V-Guard Industries, India’s leading consumer electrical and electronics major, has reached another landmark by obtaining the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) recognition for its Research and Development (R&D) Center at Kochi, Kerala.

With this, V-Guard has become one of around 1,500 companies in India to receive this unique recognition. This recognition is accordedtomanufacturing companies, which have undertaken extensive research and development to offer newer and innovative products, and also mapped out their future plans.

Commenting on the recognition, Mr. Mithun Chittilappilly, Managing Director, V-Guard Industries Ltd, said, “This recognition is an important achievement for us; as only a few manufacturers of electrical and electronics products have obtained this certification. It is a testimony to our R&D work, which has contributed to the development of new products. Innovation is at the core of our R&D activities. This recognition will motivate us to develop newer consumer and environment-friendly products.”

The 100-member strong R&D Center is engaged in new product development and product innovation across all verticals of V-Guard. This does not extend just to improving the efficiency of products or expanding the product portfolio, but also to developing processes and systems in order to enhance and support manufacturing ecosystem.

V-Guard invests nearly 0.5% of the annual turnover in Research and Development activities. The DSIR recognition grants incentives to companies investing in Research and Development in the form of tax benefits. At present, Research and Development of Solar PV Power system products, kitchen electrical appliances, solar water heater products, pumps, motors and fans is in process at the V-Guard R&D Center in Kochi.
