    New Delhi: So, the youth festival 2013 is on. While it empowers the country’s young achievers and provides them DSC03530with a national platform to showcase their talents, it also brings together a truly Indian extravaganza of dance, drama and music for youngsters in the capital city.

    Entering its second weekend with a power-packed Day 4, the Youth Festival 2013 presented by Delhi Government’s Department of Art, Culture & Languages is all set to conclude on December, 01, 2013 at Central Park, Connaught Place, New Delhi.

    Until now, the festival has staged together an array of dance forms that depict the flavor of India drenched in youthful aura. Coming from every corner of the country, young and talented artists and groups participated and made the event a success. Be it contemporary, classical or folklore – there was a bit of everything to watch out for. Youth bands’ performances, laser light shows and aerial acts caught up with a lot of paparazzi.

    “We are extremely overwhelmed to see the kind of acknowledgement this festival is receiving from people of all ages in the city. Entering the final leg with Day 4, we hope to mark a perfect closure to the festival on December 01, 2013”, says Smt. Sindhu Mishra, Secretary of Sindhi Academy and Deputy Secretary of Sahitya Kala Parishad.

    “There are many independent groups in our country who are continuously empowering the youngsters with adequate training in different art forms. Then, there are youth bands who have their own unique take on music and a huge fan following. So, our country makes up for a bunch of talent waiting to get explored. At the same time, these young dancers, musicians, cultural groups and trainers, need support and the right kind of exposure. The youth festival acts like their backbone and give them the platform to showcase their talents and the culture and feel of our soil together at one go”, she added further.

    Leading puppeteer Dadi Pudumjee is also expected to add zing to the festival with a special puppet show.

    Giving the ongoing festival a much-needed edge, an exhibition showcasing best artworks by young artists from various art colleges of the capital is also up for display and exploration, for visitors at the festival.

    As part of their many endeavours to keep intact the roots of our country that lies strong in its dance, drama and culture and of course the youth, Delhi Government’s Department of Art, Culture & Languages under Delhi Celebrates annually holds this festival to make sure young achievers are recognized and encouraged to take their talents seriously and in turn also bring a time for celebration for the cultural capital of the country- Delhi.

    Malti Shyam’s students to perform kathak, Madhimita Rao’s students to perform Oddissi, Madhvi Mudgal’s students to perform Odissi, Guru Singh Jeet Singh’s group to perform Manipuri, Deepti Om Cherry’s group to perform Mohiniattam, Sashidharan Nair’s students to perform Chhau dance, Guru Jai Rama Rao’s students to perform Kuchipuri, Jai Lakshmi Ishwar’s students to perform Bharatnatyam, Sona Mansingh’s group to perform Bharatnatyam. Besides, International Kathakali Centre’s students will perform Kathakali and Kavita Thakur’s students will perform Kathak.
