  • Wipro launches LED products for home segment

    Mumbai: Wipro Consumer Care & Lighting, the FMCG arm of Wipro Ltd launched LED products for the domestic segment complimenting its range of commercial and institutional LED lighting. Wipro launched a 5.5w LED bulb which replaces a 40w incandescent lamp and down lighters in the range of 1w to 10w. The Wipro LED lights have used very high quality LED’s and are designed and tested extensively for Indian conditions.

    The LED lights helps save more than 85% energy compared to an incandescent bulb. The LED lights have a life span of 50000 hours compared to 1000 hours of an incandescent GLS. It is highly energy efficient, long lasting and environmentally friendly as it has zero mercury and no UV radiation. LED lamps offer substantial saving over the conventional incandescent lamps and CFL lights.

    Wipro is a leading player in lighting category with dominant presence both in the commercial and the domestic segment. Lighting accounts for nearly 20% of the total energy generated in India, these figures show that energy efficient solutions can help reduce the energy burden tremendously and most importantly reduce the emission of green house effect gasses responsible for global warming.

    “We are seeing that the customers are much more aware today about energy consumption and they are very keen in reducing their energy bills, energy saving is the need of the hour and hence we expect the sale of the energy efficient lighting solutions to go up,” said Sanjay Gupta, Vice President- Domestic Lighting.
