In Japan, almost eigh lakh people across three cities have been ordered to evacuate following warnings of landslides and floods brought by heavy rain.
Kagoshima city, Kirishima and Aira, in Kagoshima prefecture on Kyushu island, urged their residents to move to safety immediately.
Japan’s official media NHK quoted the meteorological agency as warning that rain clouds are developing as a seasonal rain front hovers over the region and warm, humid air flows in.
Since Friday, rainfall in some parts of southern Kyushu has reached one thousand millimetres.
