Mumbai: With the intense summer heat refusing to abate in Mumbai, people have taken to various measures to prevent themselves from bearing the direct brunt of the sun. But spare a thought for the Traffic Police officers who stand for hours on end, manning the traffic in the blistering humidity and heat. 93.5 Red FM’s initiative Mama Ko Paani Pilao, now in its 3rd edition attempts to give some respite to the traffic police officers and appreciate their efforts.
Mama ko Paani Pilao, a week-long campaign led by RJ Malishka, has her and the Red FM team distribute water bottles to the traffic police at various intersections. The first two editions were well received by the traffic police officers and public in general. They made the Mumbaikar sit up and take notice of the trials faced by the policemen which otherwise go unobserved. The initiative is also an award winner at the India Radio Forum.
Film star Suniel Shetty joined the campaign today, with the Red FM team at Worli.
Commenting on the initiative, RED FM’s COO, Nisha Narayanan said, “A traffic cop doesn’t always evoke happy memories in an ordinary commuter; but these policemen make sure that our rides are hassle free and smooth even in the hot summer months. Over the last two years of Mama Ko Paani Pilao, we received thousands of calls from listeners who could relate to the immense perseverance of these traffic policemen braving the heat. The initiative is a testament to our empathetic side and the spirit of Bajaate Raho.”
