  • Cong welcomes PM’s 2G remark; says party ‘epitome of morality’

    Published on November 21, 2010

Welcoming Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s statement promising action against anybody for any “wrong thing” done in the 2G spectrum allocation, Congress on Saturday claimed a high moral ground reminding that it was the UPA government which had ordered a CBI inquiry into the issue.

The party also attacked BJP over the issue of corruption daring it to take action against Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddurappa over the allegations of irregularities in allotment of land to his kin in Karnataka.

“BJP is a devotee of corruption while Congress is an epitome of morality and stands for value-based politics. Therefore, if anything emerges in the public space, which even remotely impinges on political probity, then Congress party and UPA have always acted,” party spokesperson Manish Tewari told reporters in New Delhi.

He said the Prime Minister has reiterated “firm commitment” that “whoever is found guilty will not be spared”.

Tewari said it needs to recalled that it was UPA government led by Manmohan Singh which had ordered a “suo motu CBI probe” into the matter.

The Congress spokesperson also dared the BJP to “take action against Yedduruppa”, whom he termed as “the greatest land-grabber in the history of Karnataka”.

Tewari said BJP should introspect instead of “preaching morality” to everybody.
