A stone-pelting mob on Friday clashed with police which opened fire killing a man and injuring two others in Kupwara district.

The incident happened in Trehgam when a group of protestors pelted stones at police personnel resulting in firing, police said.

Police said Muddasar Ahmed, who was injured in the firing, was taken to a hospital where he succumbed to his wounds.

Two others have been injured in the violence. Stone-pelters also attacked police personnel in an area in dowtown Srinagar, police said.
