Guwahati : In order to counter the Opposition in the run-up to the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Amit Shah asked the state BJP’s social media and IT department to promote the government schemes and engage the young voters. On Monday, Shah met the members of the state BJP’s social media and IT Department and spoke at length about the importance of the social media. He also asked the state BJP workers to promote the party’s ideologies and attract young voters on the social media platforms. Shah also chaired a meeting of the party’s in-charges of all Lok Sabha constituencies of Assam. He asked the workers to meet the grassroots people and promote BJP’s ideologies and government schemes. It may be mentioned that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance has set a target of winning at least 11 of the 14 Lok Sabha seats in Assam. He also attended a meeting of the Lok Sabha Election Management Committee of Assam BJP and reviewed the party’s preparation for the general polls.Gearing up for the next general election, BJP President Amit Shah today set a target of 21 seats out of 25 parliamentary constituencies from northeast in Lok Sabha polls in 2019. “I want to give a target for 2019 polls. We want to win more than 21 seats out of 25 seats from North East,” Shah said.”Except Mizoram, all other states in NE are ruled by NEDA (North-East Democratic Alliance) constituents. So all of you need to take it forward,” Shah said, adding the party won eight seats from the region during last Lok Sabha polls in 2014. The BJP needs to win maximum number of seats from northeast to strengthen Prime Minister Narendra Modi so that development of the region continues. The party chief also asked the Assam unit to expand the network and appoint “Page Pramukh” or the in-charge of each page of electoral list.
