Jorhat : To be a perfect citizen one need to hard work and to have honesty, devotion and of course sacrifice for the cause of the people of the country and along with respect to parents will help to become like MC Mary Kom, who had set a good example to be six time World Amateur Boxing Champion even after becoming mother of three children as she is continuing to become World Champion which is because of her hard work, devotion and dedication for which she has brought laurel to the country as well as to her region and state, said Sarbananda Sonowal, the Assam Chief Minister during his chief guest address at the 5th Convocation of Assam Kaziranga University held at its Koraikhowa, Jorhat campus here today.

 

The Chief Minister handed over Mary Kom who was awarded honor degree of doctorate by Kaziranga University on 12018 was handed over the certificate along with to five gold medalists out of 406 young man and woman from across the five schools of university who was awarded degrees and the university also conferred honorary Doctorate degrees to two individuals for their tremendous contributions in their respective field were-Padmashree Jadav Payeng, the Forest Man of India and former World and Olympic champion Padmabhushan Abhinav Bindra (in absensia).

 

MC Mary Kom who was awarded an honorary doctorate degree by Kaziranga University in 2018 thank the university for their recognition by awarding the degree, thank the KU for the same and attending as the guest of honour said, now my target is to become a champion in Olympic in 2022 which is the responsibility to fulfill the target for myself to become World No. 1While others are my secondary like becoming the membership of Rajya Sabha for which I am not very comfortable as I need to be in the ring for my training for upcoming Olympic 2022. She also said study and sports should go together along with struggle as I had struggle all throughout my life, as whatever you want you achieve like if you want to make your family proud, it is all upto you, whether it’s for your university or family and your life is just beginning. With hard work, determination, dedication through which you will achieve in life as education and sports is similar, what are the similar things you all know.
