  • Goa CM Manohar Parrikar cremated with state honours

    The mortal remains of Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s were consigned to flames at Miramar near Panaji this evening. The former Defence Minister was accorded a state funeral with full military honours. Several dignitaries, including BJP president Amit Shah were present.

    Manohar Parrikar, who was 63, breathed his last yesterday at his residence near Panaji after battling a pancreatic ailment for over a year. He is survived by two sons.

    Earlier in the day, the late Chief Minister’s funeral procession began from the Kala Academy complex to Miramar and was attended by a large number by people, including political leaders, his followers and fans.

    The mortal remains of Manohar Parrikar were kept at Kala Academy and the BJP headquarters in Panaji for public to pay their last respects.

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari, Suresh Prabhu, Nirmala Sitharaman, Smriti Irani and Shripad Naik, and Maharastra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis were among important leaders who paid their tributes to the departed leader.
