  • Assam CM meets Union Petroleum Minister Sonowal raises issues to develop state’s hydrocarbon potential

    Guwahati : Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal met Union Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan in New Delhi today and held discussions on leveraging the hydrocarbon potential of Assam to develop the state as a promising hydrocarbon hub. Chief Minister Sonowal while appreciating the union government’s initiatives in developing the oil and gas infrastructure in Assam stressed on speedy implementation of the new projects in the hydrocarbon sector in the state. The Chief Minister highlighted issues such as expansion of Numaligarh Refinery, implementation of bio-refinery at Numaligarh, North East Gas Grid, Barauni-Guwahati Natural Gas Pipeline etc. during discussion. The Chief Minister said that timely completion of the projects would significantly boost economic growth in the state and generate better employment opportunities in the oil and gas sector in the region. He also congratulated the Union Minister and conveyed best wishes for his new tenure. The Union Minister assured the Chief Minister all support on behalf of the Government of India in developing the oil and gas infrastructure in Assam. He moreover informed that work to penetrate 100% households with LPG connection is being done in a speedy manner.
