  • Govt adopts multi-pronged approach to contain cross-border infiltration

    Government has adopted a multi-pronged approach to contain cross-border infiltration. Replying to supplementary questions in Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai said it includes the deployment of Border Guarding Forces along the International Borders, erection of border fencing and floodlighting, effective domination of borders by patrolling.

    He said the fencing on Indo-Pakistan border around two thousand five-kilometre has been completed and remaining fencing of 64.38 kilometres is likely to be completed by March 2022. Mr Rai said over two thousand 800 kilometre fencing on Indo-Bangladesh border is already completed and remaining fencing around 170 kilometre is likely to be completed by the end of next year.

    The Minister said there is no proposal to erect a fence along Indo-China, Indo-Nepal, Indo-Bhutan and Indo-Myanmar Borders as of now.
