Jorhat: Take the example of Japan , how they work , really the Japanese work like anything , earlier they do not take leave on Saturdays and Sundays, but now they gradually started taking. They are fully dedicated to the work, that kind of hard work and that is why today they are fully independent and do not depend on any other country , so they are self sufficient. That kind of work culture is very much required in India, because of their hard work, different way of thinking, different way of inculcating, different way of teaching to the people which is always helpful and Government is providing hands to lift these kinds of activities and I wish all upcoming new generation, scientists and people should have this kind enthusiasium for development and hard work, so the department of Biotechnology is very much dedicated to promote North Eastern Region because this region has a very good sign and opportunities for development where as the DBT centres are playing very active role in it, said Dr. T Madan Mohan, the Consultant, Adviser NERBPMC-DBT , Government of India, New Delhi during his guest of honour address on a inaugural session at a national workshop on Potential Bio Technology Programmes Using Bio Resources of North Eastern Region organized by North East Centre for Agricultural Bio Technology as the three day workshop was sponsored by the department of Biotechnology, Government of India, New Delhi that was held at the Board’s Room, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat Campus here today.

The biotechnology expert and adviser to the department Dr. T Madan Mohan said scientist working can go for training abroad for maximum one year or can be for three months also to places like Japan, USA, UK and train themselves with latest technology and returning back they could train more and more people . People or scientists should not work only for themselves but should work for nation, as working hard is best as without hard work nothing comes out . The trained people who is sitting here have to work hard like anything. The hard working is not for their family purpose but hard work is for their nation. You are serving for the nation . this what the Japanese do.

Moreover 10% of DBT project is utilize for NE Region which the centre has allotted Rs 150 to 200 crore per annum. But money is not the issue but how best it will reach to the common people is important and how they are going to transform their skill to their areas to the next level of activities that is our purpose to organize this kind of workshop.  There are centres in Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Sikkim which enable to bring lot of people together which is required for various programs in bio technology. While a programme could be arranged together for North East scientists along with rest of the country which will act as an eye opener for new generation, Dr. T Madan Mohan said.
