    Guwahati : The Indian Army planned a joint operation against northeast rebel groups and the Maoists of India. With Home Minister Amit Shah as Rajnath Singh’s defense minister ‘bridging the gulf’, the army is preparing to take action on the leadership of key Northeast rebel groups and India’s Maoist insurgency. The Home Ministry source said that there were already eight in Guwahati. New districts added to the NHA’s Naxalite affected list. The inclusion of new districts has been described by the Maoists as a “pre-emptive measure” to address “potential areas of expansion”. It was recently revealed in Parliament.

    The new districts included in the list include West Godavari (Andhra Pradesh), Kabirdham (Chhattisgarh), Mandla (Madhya Pradesh), Angul and Boudh (Odisha), Malappuram, Palakkad and Wayanad (Kerala). After review, 90 districts in 11 states are now covered under the Security Related Expenditure Scheme. In view of improving the security situation in the LWE affected states, the districts covered under the Security Related Expenditure Scheme were reviewed by the government. Accordingly, 44 districts were excluded and eight new districts were included under the scheme. On the other hand, sources said that both countries have to understand that whenever there is intelligence on the activities and intelligence of this cadre and such campaigns will be launched.

The Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagaland (Khaplang) or NSCN (K) is seriously ordering the reopening of the base area and council headquarters in Taga. Apart from the NSCN (K), the groups hit were the Kamatapur Liberation Organization (KLO), the United Liberation Front of Assam and the National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB). When the first phase of Operation Sunrise was started in February, the trigger was a threat to the mega Kaladan project. Sources said that both countries will have to understand that whenever there is intelligence on the activities and restructuring of this cadre and such operations will be started.
