The Central Bureau of Investigation, CBI, approached the Supreme Court today challenging the grant of anticipatory bail to IPS officer Rajeev Kumar in connection with the multi-crore-rupee Saradha chit fund scam.

The agency has filed an appeal in the apex court against the 1st October order of the Calcutta High Court which had granted him the relief.

In its order, the high court has said, it was not an appropriate case for custodial interrogation.

Rajeev Kumar was part of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) set up by the West Bengal government to investigate the scam.
