  • Indian railways start 9 Sewa Service trains to connect small towns with closest major cities

    The Indian railways today started 9 Sewa Service trains to connect small towns with their closest major cities.

    It will ease the hassle of travelling for daily passengers. These trains will run between Delhi and Shamli, Bhubaneswar and Nayagarh Town, Murkongselek and Dibrugarh, Kota and Jhalawar City and Coimbatore and Palani as a daily passenger train from today.

    Seva Trains between Vadnagar and Mahesana, Asarva and Himmatnagar, Karur and Salem and Yesvantpur and Tumkur will operate six days a week.

    Minister of Railways Piyush Goyal flagged off the Sewa Service train between Delhi and Shamli at New Delhi and other trains through video conferencing. On the occasion union ministers Harsh Vardhan, Dharmendra Pradhan and Suresh Angadi were also present.

    Speaking at the event Mr. Goyal talked about modernization of railways and the better facilities for the passengers. He said that more than 5 thousand WIFI enabled stations are benefiting the poor living in villages. He said these trains will provide better rail connectivity between smaller and satellite towns and important cities. The Minister said Railways is working on how to be an effective engine of growth in the country.

    Mr Goyal shared that Railways is not going to use any new assets in these trains, with efficient planning and by enhancing operational capabilities the lie-over rakes of trains are to be used for short services during the long stationed time between two services. He said it will not only increase trips but also earn revenue from the otherwise stationed coaches.
