  • Dimasa Women’s Society stages Dharna at Haflong

    Haflong : In protest against Implementation of Panchayat Raj in 6th scheduled areas and setting up of detention camp in Dima Hasao the Dimasa Women’s Society on Tuesday staged Dharna in front the Office of Dima Hasao Deputy Commissioner Office with the support from All Dimasa Students Union and Dimasa Students Union at Haflong

     

    Later, Dimasa Women’s Society (DWS) submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and also CEM NCHAC Debolal Gorlosa through the Deputy Commissioner, Haflong, Dima Hasao, in regards to the proposed implementation of Gram Panchayat  under Panchayati Raj and state government’s decision to set up detention camp in Dima Hasao.

     

    The memorandum maintained urging for taking early initiatives 1) To halt the proposed implementation of Panchayati Raj system (Gram Panchayat) in the sixth Scheduled areas of Dima Hasao and Karbi Anglong & 2) To stop setting up Detention Camp of D-Voters in the district .

    The organization, in memorandum, drew attention of the government on the facts for perusal and taking early initiatives to avert the provable affects following the proposed implementation of Panchayati Raj system (Gram Panchayat) in Sixth Scheduled areas of Dima Hasao and Karbi Anglong district and setting up Detention Camp of D-voters in Dima Hasao district:

    It also maintained that the present situation has been enhanced with augmenting panic in the mind of general people following indication the proposed implementation of Panchayati Raj system (Gram Panchayat) in Sixth Scheduled areas of Dima Hasao and Karbi Anglong. Hence, it is of the view that after implementation of Panchayati Raj system (Gram Panchayat) in the Sixth Scheduled areas, power of Sixth Scheduled Councils would categorically be reduced.

    In view of the above, the society earnestly requested to look into the matter and sympathetically examine the impediment of discouraging moment in the mind of hills people and thereafter benevolently take steps to immediately review the proposed implementation of Panchayati Raj especially in the Sixth Scheduled areas of the two hills districts.

    Similarly, it has stated that decision of state government for setting up Detention Camp of D-voters in Dima Hasao district has confused the people of the district that it will mount up the existing situation of the district with appealing probable unsafe moment from outside the district through setting up of Detention Camp.

    Under the circumstances, the DWS appealed to re-examine the matter that apprehension of local people on the affair is averted.
