In Maharashtra, the political impasse continues and the picture about the government formation in the state is not yet clear.

Shiv Sena MLAs led by Aditya Thackeray met Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari at Raj Bhavan this evening and expressed their willingness to form government in the State.

Addressing media after the meeting, Aditya Thackeray said they have sought 48 hours time from the Governor to complete the procedure.  He said NCP and Congress have agreed in-principle to support the Shiv Sena-led government.

Meanwhile, Congress is yet to arrive at any conclusion on extending support to Shiv Sena to form a new government in Maharastra. After the Congress Working Committee, CWC, meeting in New Delhi, the Congress said, it will have further discussion with Sharad Pawar-led NCP. During its meeting, the CWC had a detailed discussion on the current political situation in the state and also held consultations with Congress leaders from Maharashtra. Congress President Sonia Gandhi also spoke to Sharad Pawar over the issue.

Shiv Sena leader Arvind Sawant today resigned as Union Minister in the BJP-led NDA Government. Talking to media in New Delhi, Mr Sawant said, he sent his resignation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
