  • Paris: AFP has learned the arrest of two of its journalists in Libya as well as a photographer for its partner Getty Images.

    Their Libyan driver said that they were arrested by Libyan soldiers on the afternoon of March 19, a few dozen kilometres from Ajdabiya. They were unharmed and taken to an unknown destination.

    The agency has had no news of Dave Clark, Roberto Schmidt and Getty correspondent Joe Raedle since Saturday.

    The management has been making every effort to ensure their immediate release.

    AFP has been in close contact with Getty Images and obviously, with the families concerned.

    Dave Clark, 38-year-old deputy head of the Paris bureau, has been a special correspondent in Libya since March 8. Roberto Schmidt, 45 and a photographer based in the Nairobi bureau, has been in eastern Libya since February 28. Joe Radle is 45.
