  • Bangalore : Cambridge Public School, Bangalore managed in association with Pearson Schools, part of the Studentsworld’s leading learning company, Pearson India, hosted The Frank Anthony Memorial All-India Inter-School English Debate in the honor of Frank Anthony. The national level debate competition is one of the most prestigious inter-school competitions organized by the Indian School Certificate Examinations (ICSE). The winners of the competition at regional level was Mallya Aditi International School awarded as the Best Team, the first runner up – Ms. Dhwani Shah from Vidya Shilp Academy, the second runner up – Master Joel Thomas Jacob from New Millennium School and the Best speaker award has gone to Master Pranav Raghu from Mallya Aditi International School. The competition was judged by Ms. Jhansi Jacob, DGM – Academics, Pearson Schools, Ms. Kruthika Harish Kumar, Regional Lead – Academics, Pearson Schools and Ms. Triveni Muralidhar, Principal, Tattva School managed by Pearson Schools.

This annual competition is spread across three levels – Regional, Zonal and National. At the regional level, 11 premium schools across Bangalore namely, Ryan International, Vidya Shilp Academy, Mallya Aditi International School, Sarla Birla Academy, Vidya Niketan School, St. Francis High School, RTNET Public School, New Millennium School and Little Flower Public School participated.

Speaking at the occasion Ms. Judith Singh, Principal, Cambridge Public School said, ‘We at Pearson are committed to help learners make measurable progress in their lives through constant learning. A national level debate competition gives students that extra edge to gain exposure nationally and show their talent. I wish luck and happiness to all the participants and winners of the Debate competition.”

Every year close to 1600 schools participate nationally and are divided into two groups (Group I for students of Standards XI and XII and Group II for students of Standards IX and X) and are open to only CISCE accredited schools. Only two students from each school participate from each group and the topic of debate is revealed only an hour before the competition. The debate stands out from other debate competitions because of its highly competitive and elitist edge.
