Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar has said that education is the best investment for any country and only those countries are powerful which are strong in education.

Mrs. Kumar also said that in our country, there is a need to stress on girls education, and it is necessary that the parents give up their apathy towards providing education to girls.

Mrs. Kumar was speaking as the Chief Guest of the 26th Convocation of Ranchi University was today at the Morahabadi in Ranchi. Mrs. Kumar also said that our civilization has a rich past, but absence of professional degrees or diplomas in its study is stopping its widespread acknowledgement among new generation.

Lok Sabha Speaker also presented gold medals during the convocation function to 36 meritorious students out of which 24 were girls.

Earlier today, soon after her arrival at Birsa Munda Airport at Ranchi, Mrs. Kumar was given a guard of honor at the Airport. Speaking to the reporters, she said that she was happy to be in Ranchi for the convocation function.
