    Published on July 23, 2018

PM Narendra Modi-led Central government’s ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign has been greatly successful in changing the mindset of people towards girl education. In Jharkhand too, the campaign has been able to give positive results with sharp decline in school dropouts. The number of Muslim girls going to school has also seen a rise.

Salimullah Khan spent most of his life imparting education to children. Currently, he serves as the principal of Ismailiya Momin Urdu Girl School at Doranda in Ranchi. Khan says, the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign has been immensly successful in changing the mindset of people.

Attitudes and mindset towards girl education are changing only because people feel the need of change and they are taking charge of it. Effective implementation of schemes also played an important role. Girls are also happy for they can now hope to see their dreams coming true.

Girl education is key in bringing about socio-economic change and these girls are paving way for that change as they head to school.
