A Central team has reached Amethi in Uttar Pradesh to assess bird-flu situation there.

The avian influenza was confirmed when 350 birds, chicken and ducks died of a mystery disease on 6th and 7th March.

The Uttar Pradesh government has already sounded a bird flu alert following the outbreak of the avian influenza in Amethi.

Hundreds of hens and other birds including ducks and pigeons culled in different villages of Bazar Shukul block in Amethi district to check the spread of bird flu.

The state government has also formed 10 teams for four districts which would be visiting villages to cull infected birds.
