Bangalore: The festival of Christmas celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ and conveys his message of love, tolerance and brotherhood. It’s a celebration of humanity and mankind. Students, parents & staff of the CIS Community participated in the CIS Christmas drive to collect food, Photo 4.stationery, clothes and funds for the less fortunate – organizations like Indira Gandhi International Academy for Sri Lankan refugee children, Chaitanya Public School and St.Paul’s orphanage.

As a part of Christmas Celebration, the Canadian International School was tastefully decorated, giving a festive feeling, with the happy sound of pealing bells, lights sparkling everywhere, and hymns of joy and peace. The classrooms were decorated with Christmas festoons, hand-made cards, snowflakes, hollies and Christmas Trees. Santa distributed gifts & candies to the children.

“We at CIS look for ways to reach out to the needy and make an effort to make Christmas season a little brighter. That’s what Christmas should be all about. A time to share our good fortune with all those in need across the world” said Priya Anand, Community Service Coordinator and Organiser of the Christmas Drive.

Photo 8Seeing the joy on the children’s faces at the Chaitanya Public School when we gave them the Christmas presents brought tears to my eyes” said Bharat Lalwani, student at CIS.

“Christmas is the season of giving. The money and donations raised will be used to fund the necessities of the poor children. I am very pleased and feel blessed to be a part of such a great event” said Sharad Kiswani, student at CIS.

“What could be better than celebrating Christmas and sharing smiles with less fortunate members of our society who lack the comforts of life, unlike most of us who celebrate the day with loads of goodies, new clothes and gifts to flaunt? Our students realize that the best Christmas gift they could receive, is bringing even a moment of joy into the lives of others” adds Ms Shweta Sastri, Executive Director, Canadian International School.”
