  • Chennai Super Kings beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 5 wickets

    Kolkata : Dwayne Bravo smashed a massive six off the last ball to help Chennai Super Kings register a thrilling 5-wicket victory over Kolkata Knight Riders in a crucial Indian Premier League match at the Eden Gardens.

    Needing 9 runs from the final over, Rajat Bhatia dismissed MS Dhoni (28) with the second ball to make the match exciting but in the end Chennai prevailed thanks to Bravo’s heroics.

    In the end, Chennai were left to score five runs to win the match off the last ball. Bhatia bowled a full toss, which Bravo promptly smacked for a match-winning maximum.

    Dhoni hit a six and three boundaries in his quick 21-ball innings.

    Bhatia dismissed Faf du Plessis (13) in the eighteenth over to reduce Chennai to 127/4 in 17.1 overs.

    Suresh Raina (8) got run out in the thirteenth over as Chennai start to wobble in their run chase.

    Chasing 159-run target, Chennai lost Murali Vijay (36) and Hussey (56) in one over after they put on a quick 97-run stand to lead the run chase.

    Mystery spinner Sunil Narine struck twice in the tenth over to end the Hussey-Vijay juggernaut. Narine double-strike helped Kolkata reduce Chennai to 97/2 in 9.4 overs from 97/0 in 9.1 overs.

    Hussey and Vijay lead the Super Kings run chase with flurry of boundaries. Hussey whacked four huge maximums and four boundaries in his quick-fire 39-ball knock and raced to his fifty in just 35 balls.

    Whereas, Vijay hit a six and five boundaries in his 24-ball whirlwind innings.

    Sent in to bat,Gautam  Gambhir (62) and Brendon McCullum (37) put on 99-run opening stand to help Kolkata post 158/6 against Chennai.
