London : Manchester City have won their first English league title in 44 years. On Sunday, they scored twice in injury time to beat Queens Park Rangers 3-2. The win edged out Manchester United on goal difference in the title race and they took the second spot. Both the sides had finished with 89 points in 38 matches.

United thought they had won a record 20th title when they won One-Nil at Sunderland, but Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero scored in the five minutes added on as City came from 2-1 down to snatch victory. It was City’s first English Crown since 1968. It was the most dramatic finish in Premier League history as big-spending City took the title from neighbours and rivals United. For 20 seconds after the final whistle, United believed they had won the title for the 20th time, until they heard about Sergio Aguero’s winner for their local rivals.

What would have been a celebration in front of their fans became an abrupt about-turn as the stunned players headed back to their dressing room as joy turned to despair.

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur finished third and fourth after wins on the final day.
