  • Chinese President Xi Jinping to arrive tomorrow for Second Informal Summit with PM Modi

    India is awaiting the arrival of Chinese President Xi Jinping for the Second Informal Summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Mamallapuram in Tamil Nadu on Friday and Saturday.

    As a strategy to build upon the ancient cultural and trade ties with China and also to showcase India’s diversity, the venue for this summit had to be outside Delhi and Mamallapuram was selected.

    Multi-layered security has been put in place at Mamallapuram. More than ten thousand police personnel have been deployed at key locations in Chennai and the venue for the summit to provide security for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

    Prime Minister Modi will be arriving at Chennai tomorrow by a special aircraft, from where he will reach Mamallapuram by helicopter. The Chinese President will reach Chennai in the afternoon tomorrow and head to a hotel in Chennai, from where he will reach the venue by road.

    The Pancha Ratha’s, Butter Ball, Arjuna’s Penance and the Shore Temple, that are going to be visited by the leaders of both the countries as a prelude to the summit tomorrow, have been given a face-lift. Both the leaders will also witness a cultural show by kalakshetra foundation at Shore temple.

    On Saturday, both the leaders will have a one to one conversation followed by a limited delegation level talks.
