  • Clinton in Riyadh to end Syrian crisis

    Riyadh : US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is meeting Saudi leaders in Riyadh today to raise pressure on Syrian regime to implement the UN peace plan to end the crisis in the country. She will be meeting Saudi King Abdullah and Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal.

    On Saturday, Hillary Clinton is due to meet Foreign Ministers of Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Oman before moving to Istanbul to attend the Friends of Syria meet. Her visit comes a day after Syrian President told he would spare no effort for the success of Kofi Annan’s six-point peace plan.

    At the same time ,he said the proposal would only work if terrorist acts aided by the by foreign powers is stopped. US State Department spokesman Mark Toner described President Assad’s remarks as discouraging and urged him to halt the violence immediately.
