Jalandhar: In a bid to keep its personnel fit, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has collaborated with LPU to establish ‘Institute of Immunity and Nutrition Management (IINM)’ at the Force Group Centre in Jalandhar, Punjab. The institute was inaugurated by Director General of CRPF, Dr AP Maheshwari on February 09^th, 2021, in the presence of LPU Chancellor Mr. Ashok Mittal, Pro Chancellor Mrs. Rashmi Mittal, IG K Vijay Kumar (Chandigarh), ADG (Trg) SS Chaturvedi, DIG Harjinder Singh (Jalandhar) and other CRPF ranks and LPU faculty members.

The newly inaugurated Institute of Immunity and Nutrition Management will train the CRPF’s cooking-staff to prepare tasty and nutritious meals keeping the physical and mental requirements of the force in mind.  A special focus area of the training will revolve around immunity building to ensure the force is better prepared to handle any seasonal diseases caused by viruses and bacteria. A herbal park and organic farming areas have also been developed at the GC Jalandhar campus to this effect.

The cooks from the CRPF will be trained and upskilled in 20 different modules prepared by the faculty members of LPU’s top-ranked, School of Hotel Management. Through these modules, the LPU faculty will teach them cooking, hygiene, working with kitchen appliances, food storage, preparing different dishes, salads, soups, ensuring sanitization and preparing and serving immunity-boosting food.

Inaugurating the institute, the CRPF DG Dr AP Maheshwari discussed the importance of immunity for physical well-being and compared the importance of trained cooks to the force as that of a mother to a family. Both are responsible for providing nutritious food that contributes to the performance of their respective units.

LPU Chancellor Mr. Ashok Mittal thanked the CRPF for providing LPU an opportunity to be a part of IINM. Saluting the Force for its bravery and sacrifices; Mr. Mittal added that LPU looks forward to similar association for any other purposes as well.
