    Published on December 27, 2011

Odisha is not likely to be severely affected by the cyclonic storm ‘Thane’ formed over the South-East Bay of Bengal, about 780 km south-south-east of Gopalpur in the state.

According to Bhubaneswar Meteorological office, the system is likely to move in West-North-Westwards and intensify into a severe cyclonic storm during next 12 hours. The system is likely to cross North Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Pradesh Coast between Cuddalore and Nellore by Friday morning.

Under its impact, rain and thunder-showers are likely to occur at some places in South and Coastal Odisha. Cool breeze will sweep the entire state for the next three days and temperature is likely to dip further. Distant Warning Signal Number-Two has been hoisted at Paradip and Gopalpur ports in Odisha. Fishermen have been cautioned not to venture into deep sea
