  • Death toll from landslides rises to 16 in Nepal

    In Nepal, the death toll in the landslides triggered by continuous rain in two districts has risen to sixteen. In Rukum district, ten members of a same family were killed when their house was buried under a landslide in remote village at Purtimkada. In another incident in the same area three children were killed while five other family members were rescued by police personnel and local villagers. Nine families have been displaced and seven houses buried in the landslides that took place in the early hours of Friday morning. In Nuwakot district in central Nepal, a landslide swept away a house at Thansing killing three family members and injuring five others. Reports say that landslips have affected nearly fifty households.
