Less than a week before the Holy Month of Ramadan is due to start, General Secretariat of the Council of Senior Scholars of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have advised the devotees to follow preventive health measures in view of the Coronavirus pandemic.

The General Secretariat has urged all Muslims to prepare for the Holy Month of Ramadan and abide by precautionary and preventive health measures when performing all acts of worship, the Saudi Press News Agency reported a short while ago.

    The following recommendations were issued:

First, muslims should abide by the decisions of competent authorities in countries where they reside, which aim to preserve public health and limit the spread of the novel Coronavirus pandemic.

Second, muslims should perform obligatory prayers and Taraweeh prayers at their homes if competent authorities in countries where they reside recommend so.

Third recommendation says that muslims must avoid gatherings, given that this is considered the main cause of the spread of infection according to relevant medical reports, including communal Iftar and Suhoor meals.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia reported 1088 cases of the COVID-19 on Sunday. The Kingdom also saw 69 new recoveries, and five new deaths.
