  • Donald Trump not happy with border security deal

    Published on February 13, 2019

US President Donald Trump has said, he was not happy with the border security deal reached by a bipartisan group of lawmakers.

He, however, expressed openness to the agreement to avert another government shutdown.

At a cabinet meeting in the White House, he suggested that he will find sources of money other than Congress for controversial wall along the US-Mexican border.

The US President was responding to a deal struck by Republican and Democratic lawmakers to offer nearly 1.4 billion dollar for wall construction, as well as other border security measures.

The lawmakers entered into the agreement to prevent another government shutdown after Friday.

The funding offer was far less than the 5.7 billion dollar Trump demanded last year when he triggered a record partial government shutdown that lasted 35 days.

The federal government shutdown cost the US economy 11 billion dollars.
