New Delhi: The Election Commission has issued notice to the Bharatiya Janata Party seeking its comments over representations on making Ayodhya Ram temple an agenda in the party’s election manifesto released for the Uttar Pradesh assembly polls.

The Commission has issued the notice to the party’s national president seeking his comments on the objections made by office-bearers of Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha, Akhil Bharatiya Sant Samiti and Sant Mahasabha.

In their memorandum to the commission the said organisations have demanded the Commission to scrap mention of Ram Temple from the BJP manifesto.

The organisations have stated that by making the Ayodhya Ram temple an agenda in the election manifesto, the BJP has violated model code of conduct.
