  • Electioneering picks up in TN, Kerala and Puducherry

    In Tamil Nadu, political leaders are carrying on their campaigning throughout the State. Promising voters of various schemes political leaders are having a hectic time in touring their constituencies.

    Parties have put forth their achievements and accusations. This week the State would also witness the campaigning by national leaders.

    The election commission today conducted training program for three and a half lakh polling officials.

    The final training will be conducted for them on the 12th. They have been given training on conducting the polls in a calm manner, operation of EVMS, identification procedures and related issues. The election commission also started issuing booth slips to voters in all parts of the state.

    In Puducherry, though electioneering is bereft of the usual fanfare, it is picking up momentum as the polls are approaching. Due to stringent measures taken by the Election Commission, political parties and candidates have avoided taking out processions, and rallies. Public meetings, roadshows and door-to-door canvas are most popular among the candidates and political parties this time.

    In Kerala, touring Senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley said that the forthcoming assembly election in five states will have major political impact at the national level. Addressing election related meet the press programme at Thiruvananthapuram, he said that UPA government is confronted with grave issues like corruption charges and escalating prices of essential items.
