Gurgaon : ITM University today pledged to keep its campus free from ragging as students, parents and representatives of the local police attended a meeting of the anti-ragging committee that discussed measures and initiatives to curb ragging.

The meeting of the Anti Ragging Committee was attended by the representatives from the local police, an NGO, the parents of students studying at ITM University, senior batch students, as well as the Registrar and the faculty of ITM University.

“It is the principal duty of every member of the ITM University to ensure a perfect ragging free environment,” said Professor Prem Vrat, the Vice-Chancellor, while addressing the meeting.

The Vice-Chancellor expressed his satisfaction at the steps taken so far. He urged the members to institute all necessary measures and ensure that no ragging takes place. He further impressed upon the need to formulate a foolproof mechanism to detect and report any incident of ragging, however, small it could well be.

“There would be a Zero tolerance to ragging and no incident of ragging would be condoned”, he said.

Speaking at the occasion, the Secretary of the Anti Ragging Committee at ITM University Col (Ret’d) JR Sharma briefed the members on the initiatives taken at the beginning of the previous academic session which resulted in a ragging fee year. He further briefed the members on the steps already taken this year in preparation to curb ragging.

The Vice-Chancellor also urged upon all Directors, Heads of Departments to create a healthy and supportive environment between fresh batch and senior batch students in their Schools and Departments and at the same time keep a close vigil at the students to prevent any incident of ragging.

He wished all a ragging fee year, much up to the long tradition of ITM University.
