  • Fortis Malar Hospital celebrates Mother’s Day by launching Movement Therapy and Post-Natal Fitness

    Picture 1 - Fortis Malar HospitalChennai : On the occasion of Mother’s Day, Fortis Hospitals launched Movement Therapy and Post-Natal Fitness to promote the significance and the benefits of post-natal care. This Post-Natal care program was launched by Dr. Benny Benjamin, Consultant Paediatrician, Fortis Malar Hospital. The launch was followed by a free movement therapy session for all mothers and mothers-to-be.

    Movement Therapy works on all levels; physically, emotionally and energetically. Since Movement Therapy involves building relationships through using creativity and non-verbal expression in the context of a psychotherapeutic relationship, it is particularly suited to working with mothers and babies.

    Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Benny Benjamin, Consultant Paediatrician, Fortis Malar Hospital said, “Our aim is to enable the joy of motherhood in every family. Physical and emotional fitness is important to all new mothers. We offer post-natal care sessions include movement therapy and post-natal fitness. These are aimed at helping a new mother in getting back to pre-pregnancy shape physically. Besides this, these sessions will improve cardiovascular fitness, restore muscle strength and help prevent post-natal depression”.

    Fortis Malar Hospital also offers Mother’s Support Club to support every member mom in her journey of motherhood. Mother’s Support Club is aimed to help mothers from the first day of their child’s birth up to 2 years of the child’s age. This club will support mothers with general awareness on Childcare in every stage of mothering and help to understand the feeding cues.

    Mother’s Support Club will help the mother in analysing the milestone of her child’s development and behaviour pattern. Mothers can use this club to expertise in their mothering skills that every woman is in general but here they get a confidence and a reassurance.

Post-natal care is crucial part for new mother and the baby’s well-being including maintaining a healthy diet and also issues related to hygiene for mother and child, “said Dr. Jayashree Jayakrishnan, Lactation Consultant, Fortis Malar Hospital.
