  • Further talks possible on nuke programme: Iran Foreign Min Salehi

    Published on July 31, 2012

Iran has said that further talks are likely to be held with the six major world powers over its nuclear program after inconclusive round of negotiations in Istanbul earlier this month. Iran’s Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi told in an interview to the Austrian newspaper Der Standard that if everything proceeds normally then there should be further negotiations. He said that a breakdown in talks is in nobody’s interests and the gaps can only be closed through dialogue . Salehi said, however, that Iran’s right to uranium enrichment has to be recognized. He also stated that Iran did not want to shut down the Strait of Hormuz through which 40 percent of the world’s seaborne oil exports are routed.
