  • Govt. undertakes fencing & floodlighting of Indo-Pak border

    The Government has undertaken fencing and floodlighting of more than two thousand Kilometres of Indo-Pakistan Border. Minister of State for Home Affairs Mullappally Ramachandran, in a written reply in the Loksabha, said fencing of 3436.59 Kms and 3117 floodlights along Bangladesh border and 10 Kms of fencing on the north of Moreh in Manipur on the Myanmar border has also been undertaken. He said, the Government has sanctioned fencing of 418.03 Km in Assam, out of which 341.53 Km has been completed. The Minister said that fencing 740 Km stretch of Tripura has already been completed. The Minister, however, said that so far the Government has not received any proposal from the political parties to seal the India-Bangladesh border.
