Issues relating to land acquisition for industrial  and other purposes have sparked off protests and agitations in different parts of the country in recent times.

Cancellation of land acquisition in three villages in Noida  area of UP by the Allahabad High Court which was upheld by Supreme Court  has raised the issues of propriety  and fairness of means employed.

Hundreds of flat buyers led by a newly-floated body, Noida Extension Flat Buyers’ Welfare Association (NEFBWA) today held a peace march to raise their concern over the land acquisition issue.

The march, led by association president RP Tyagi, started from Sector 14 (A) Gautam Budha Statue, Noida Entry Gate, and proceeded towards Sector 18.

“We want our flats at committed price. We do not want refund of the money,” said Tyagi.

“We have also moved court requesting that we should be made party to case. We have requested the court to hear investors views too before deciding any Noida Extension case,” he said.

Earlier this week, NEFBWA had filed a petition in the Allahabad High Court pleading it to hear them before deciding on the land acquisition issue.

At present some more petitions are pending in the High Court, which is likely to announce its decisions next week.

“We are not against farmers. Farmers should be paid adequately. It is authority’s (Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority, GNIDA) fault and it has to resolve it,” said Tyagi.

“Authority cheated farmers and sold land to builders who further cheated investors. All stakeholders should sit and find an amicable solution where farmers get proper land rate and buyers their flats,” said Rajiv Sharma, an investor.
