  • Hamas: Initiate Ending Palestinian State of Division

    Published on March 7, 2011

Chairman of the Palestinian Hamas Political Bureau Khalid Mishaal said Sunday that Hamas would soon initiate ending the Palestinian state of division and unite the Palestinian position.

“We will initiate during the coming days ending the current state of division and we pledge that we will reunite our internal position,” said Mishaal when addressing the opening session of the 8th Conference of al-Quds International Foundation in Khartoum Sunday.

He called for instituting a new Palestinian status to end the state of division and achieve a national reconciliation that would boost the resistance, confront the Israeli occupation and enhance and defend the national rights.

He further urged the Palestinians to abandon the situations which failed in supporting the Palestinian rights and which supported the enemies of the nation.

“It is time to change the reality and fold the page of the past. No negotiation with the enemy and no bargaining on our national principles and rights. Nobody has the right to relinquish an inch of the Palestinian land or confiscate the right of return for all Palestinians,” said Mishaal.

He went on saying that “it is time to institute for a new Palestinian status and then we can ask the world to stand with us. This way the division will end and the national reconciliation will be achieved.”

He said that al-Guds was experiencing tough conditions under the occupation and a painful chapter of threats together with attempts of judaizing it and tarnishing its religious image in which the world has known it.

Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir, addressing the conference, called for supporting the Arab leaders who are seeking to form an Arab umbrella to protect the Palestinian right.

He reiterated Sudan’s continues support for the Palestinian right and its city of al-Quds, saying that “Sudan stands firmly in protection of al-Quds and rejects all forms of Judaization led by the Israeli occupation which seeks to tarnish the Islamic and Arab identity.”

The conference, which is attended by delegates from 28 countries, tend to discuss means of finding mechanism to confront the threats against al-Quds, study the current challenges facing the Palestinian people and how to enable them to endure in the face of the Israeli campaigns.
