  • HCG Pinkathon Delhi 2013 – More Than 2,500 Women Run for a Cause in the Fight against Breast Cancer

    New Delhi :  HCG Pinkathon, India’s 1st International Women’s 10K – Run,   was held in National Capital today, to create awareness on breast cancer, promote health and fitness among women. More than 2,500 women from Gul Panag with 5K winner Garima Takyai (C), 1st Runner-up Karishma Sharma (L) and 2nd Runner-up Vasudha Khosla (R) at HCG Pinkathon 2013 Delhi on Sundaycorporates, colleges, nurses, social clubs and Doctors participated in the run under various categories. The event was organised by Maximus Events and HealthCare Global Enterprises Ltd, The Specialist in Cancer Care and was flagged of by Ms. Gul Panag, Actor. The money raised out of the event would be used to treat economically challenged cancer patients.

    In the 10K category, the prize was won by Shubha Bhargava, 5K category, Garima Takyar and 3K Deepika Joshi.

    According to Population based cancer registry/ICMR Study, the incidence of breast cancer in Delhi – 32.3 per 1, 00, 000/New cases diagnosed per year and by 2015 we will have 1, 06, 214/ New cases will be diagnosed every year in India.

    Mr. Milind Soman, Marathon Runner and Founder, Pinkathon, said, “I’m happy to see so many women coming to lend their support. Awareness is the key and events such as these go a long way in creating awareness, early diagnosis and helps in the fight against breast cancer.”

    Mr. Dinesh Madhavan, Director, HCG, said, “HCG has been at the forefront in the fight against cancer. With increased awareness today most of the cancer cases are diagnosed early. The aim of this event “HCG Pinkathon” is to educate women of the fact that they can make lifestyle changes today that can reduce the risk of developing breast cancer.”

    Harinder Sraw, Breast Cancer Survivor, said, “Once you know the cause of the disease, you will make necessary lifestyle changes. I was diagnosed with breast cancer, it could be detected early because I was aware of the symptoms and met the specialist at the right time.”
